What do some of the Generic Top Level Domains mean?


.com is for commercial and business sites.
.net is reserved for Internet Service Providers, or ISPs. They usually provide Internet connectivity.
.org is for non-profit organizations.
.edu is for 4-year, degree granting colleges/universities. (schools, libraries, and museums may register under country domains)
.biz is for commercial and business sites.
.info is for informational web sites.
.name is for personal sites (i.e. john.smith.name)
