How does Empowering Media filter spam from "normal" Email?

What is the process that Empowering Media uses to filter spam from my Email inbox?

Solution

Our custom designed system uses a two step process:

  1. Blacklists - Known open Email relays and spammers are blocked from sending mail to our servers.
  2. Rules - Analyze the incoming Email message based upon rules and automatic treatments to determine if the message is considered spam.

Messages listed on the blacklists we use are blocked from coming into our Email system. Emails of this type never enter our system.

If an Email passes the first step, it is then scanned through our automated system for characteristics to determine if it is spam. If the system determines it might be spam, the Subject: line is changed beginning with ***SPAM***

Note: No employee of Empowering Media views your Email during this entire process.
